In Ethiopia, CRS has a long and rich history of providing emergency relief and development assistance to the people of Ethiopia since 1958.
At present, CRS/Ethiopia implements multiple projects through different partner organizations. CRS/Ethiopia has a highly diverse portfolio ranging from very large food-supported emergency response to cutting edge development programs. The current CRS/Ethiopia budget stands at $100 million with funding from the U.S. Government, UN agencies, private foundations, individual donors, and CRS private funds.

1. Job title: Program Manager I-Emergency
Duty Station: Ethiopia/Addis Ababa
Employment term: Indefinite contingent up on the funding of the program
Reports to: Project Manager-Emergency

Job Summary: You will manage programming in the Country Program (CP) for Emergency designing and implementing projects advancing Catholic Relief Services’ (CRS) work in serving the poor and vulnerable. Your management skills and knowledge will ensure that the CP delivers high-quality programming and continuously works towards improving the impact of its programming.
Education and Experience:
  • An advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in a relevant field including agriculture, economics, public health, food security, or international development. An advanced degree can be substituted with an additional 3 years of relevant experience or BSC with minimum of 8 years demonstrated experience in USG or other similar development projects.
  • Project management experience in Emergency is highly desirable.
  • Experience engaging with partner organizations
  • Experience contributing to the development of technical proposals.
  • MEAL skills and experience
  • Experience using MS Windows and MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Web Conferencing Applications, information management systems.
Personal Skills
  • Strong critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills with ability to make sound judgment.
  • Strong relationship management skills and the ability to work effectively with culturally diverse groups.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to write reports
  • Proactive, results-oriented, and service-oriented
Required/Desired Foreign Language: Fluent written and spoken English is mandatory for the job holder
Travel Required (include percentage of required travel, if applicable) The job holder will be stationed 60-70 % percent of her/his time in project areas where CRS has active emergency response projects

Employment term: Indefinite Period contingent up on the funding of DFSA program
Reports to: Program Manager-Climate Change
Required no.: One

Job Summary: As a member of the DFSA project team, you will monitor and report on Purpose I activities, specifically Climate Change, in support of Catholic Relief Services’ (CRS) work serving the poor and vulnerable. Your thorough and service-oriented approach will ensure that the project consistently applies best practices and constantly works towards improving the impact of its benefits to those we serve.
Typical Background, Experience & Requirements:
  • MA/MSC or BA)BSC Degree in related field of study
  • 2 years relevant experience for MA or 4 years relevant experience for BA degree
  • Experience in the field of Climate Change and for an NGO would be a plus.
  • Additional education may substitute for some experience.
  • Experience in participatory action planning and community engagement.
  • Experience monitoring projects and collecting relevant data preferred.
  • Experience using MS Windows and MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Personal Skills
  • Observation, active listening and analysis skills with ability to make sound judgment
  • Good relationship management skills and the ability to work closely with local partners and community members
  • Attention to details, accuracy and timeliness in executing assigned responsibilities

Travel Required: Extensive travel within Ethiopia; 40-50% travel to DFSA implementation woredas and kebeles
